Joomla!
Joomla is one of many Content Management Systems, and came into being on August 17 2005.
The Joomla Project is led by members of the Core Team who are commitment to moving Joomla! forward in the spirit of the open source movement. Core Team members come from a diverse range of backgrounds and disciplines, located in many different countries.
The following features form the Joomla! core system. There is a wealth of added function made available through Modules and Components.
User Management
Joomla has a registration system that allows nine user groups with various types of permissions and access.
Language Manager
There is international support for many world languages and encoding. If you need your Web site in one language and the administrator panel in another, multiple languages are possible.
Contact Management
Joomla! supports multiple contact forms going to specific individuals and groups within the site's administration.
Search
Joomla! supports dynamic site-search engines which helps to navigate users to most popular search items. It also provides search statistics.
Content Management
Joomla's simplified three-tiered system of articles allows you to organize your content in a way that suits you, not how it is displayed on the site. Users can rate articles, e-mail them to a friend, or automatically save a PDF. Articles can display most popular articles, latest new items, newsflashes, related articles, one-on-one private messaging. Administrators can archive content for safekeeping, hiding it from site visitors.
Syndication and RSS Newsfeed Management
With Joomla, it's easy to syndicate your site content, allowing users to subscribe to your new content in their RSS reader.
